Annual 'Love Your Body' Campaign

Western's Love Your Body campaign is back! Our exposure to and obsession with cover models, social media, celebrities, fitness shows, and the pursuit of the “ideal body” have led to the perpetuation of insecurities and the creation of unrealistic societal standards. Western’s Love Your Body promotes healthy lifestyles and encourages positive body image to create a community where individuals can build confidence in their bodies and their lives. This year, our Love Your Body day will be partnering with the greater community and the #StoriesNotSelfies campaign to create a space appreciative and focused on what our healthy bodies can DO - sweat, smile, and share! Join us on Wednesday, April 8 for a day of just that--sweating, smiling, and sharing!

Schedule: 2:30pm-3:15pm Welcome + Spin Class (4th Floor Spin Area) We'll kick the day off with an introduction to the campaign before we take good care of ourselves in a 30 minute, all-levels welcome spin class led by certified Spinning instructor and life coach Cheryl Madliger. 3:15pm-3:45pm Stories and Strategies (Studio 2) The second portion of the event will get into the good stuff: learning to love your body and take care of it. Cheryl will share her story of how she learned to use fitness and health as a way to bring happiness to her life instead of a way to drive herself crazy in the pursuit of an unattainable ideal. We’ll also hear from Nicola Paviglianiti, one of the organizers of this years Love Your Body campaign and a proud promoter of the #storiesnotselfies movement started in conjunction with Hybrid Fitness’ Women’s Empowerment Series about how to face our insecurities and utilize our own personal stories. 3:45-4:15 Yoga Class (Studio 2): The day will wrap up with a calming yoga class led by the WSRC's own Sarah Turkstra.
